goodreads
This page originated in 2007 as place to list all the books I was to read that year (as inspired by Janna). During that process, it grew to the point that it was necessary to use an outside application to keep track of the ever burgeoning list of books. Okay, so that wasn't really the problem, but wouldn't it be cool if it was? Actually, a number of us discovered goodreads.com and instantly fell in love with the fun. So all my read and to-read book lists have migrated there; but the widgets below will give a quick glimpse at my shelves.

Yay! I inspired someone! :)
I’m really pumped that you’re doing this as well. I will do my best to not turn it into a competition. It’s interesting that our first book of the year is the same. And while I’ve been saying that I want to read 50 books, I’m not going to kill myself reaching that number. It’s just something to shoot for; I tried this a couple years ago and I believe I read about 35 books. Of course, I kept poor records so that might not be fully accurate.
And finally, “Ulysses” is part of the story in the movie “The Good Shepherd” that I saw yesterday, and so I can say with confidence that if you do in fact read that, you have permission to count it as more than one book.

Competition can be good at times, but this would only be “friendly” at its strongest. I don’t really anticipate hitting 50 either, but it will keep me reading all the time instead of going weeks on end without really reading a book.
I also think it will be fascinating to see the different books that will populate our respective lists.
