Further evidence of nerd-like qualities
In the process of editing a document here at work, I questioned the particular use of a dash. For help I turned to the always trusted Chicago Manual of Style. Before I knew it, I was completely captivated by the distinctions between--and examples of--hyphens, en dashes, em dashes, and 2-em and 3-em dashes. Such captivation was surprising for an afternoon full of adult ADHD moments.
Having fun with Google…
Holy crap that's one frickin' awesome product!
Trying to raise Logic's ranking on a non-serious search in Google. Nothing but fun.
a reason for moving every year
From the time I entered college -- way back in the fall of 1994 -- I have had the privilege of moving at least once every year. (I count having to pack up and head to college each fall as "moving" even though I would return to the same home come late spring.) Well, I hated this continual uprooting and kept proclaiming, "I can't wait until I live in one place for more than a year." Now that I have lived at 3821 for two years come August 1st, I realize the benefit of moving every year: it forces me to go through everything and clean out what I don't need. I tried to do that yesterday and it was ridiculous how easily I became overwhelmed. Who knew how deep my closet went and how much could hide back there? In the end, I think I prefer to stay rooted in one place longer than a year at a time, but "spring cleaning" certainly takes on a whole new meaning. Which, hopefully, will not be an excuse for me to wait until next spring before tackling this endeavor. How did my parents ever live in one house for 26 years?
New Changes
When enough time goes by between posts it is nearly inevitable that the title will be something akin to what is written above. As you can see, one of the obvious changes is that my blog was upgraded to the latest edition of WordPress -- thanks again, Erik! It will continue to undergo cosmetic changes until I have acheived the look I want, so know that this is not the final presentation.
The other new change involves my place of employment. I am quickly finishing up my second week working for Logic Product Development as their Technical Writer and Document Coordinator. So far so good. Last week was spent at the Vancouver, WA office for introductory training with the current writer, James. He did a great job with transferring as much knowledge to me as can be done in three and a half work days. And it was a great time spent in the Pacific Northwest.
I think that is the majority of my new changes and I should really get back to work before I set a bad precedent.
